Looking for a challenge in your dance training? Look no further than our Brazilian Zouk Challenge Intensive Workshops with the amazing Evelyn Derrick and Iago and Vanessa!!

These classes are not your standard regular classes - they are designed to push you to explore and discover new transitions, techniques, frame, spacing, weight transfer, angling, and more in your Brazilian Zouk partner work. With a focus on flow, technique, unspoken connection and more, you'll be challenged to improve your skills and take your dancing to the next level. These classes are for Intermediate to Advanced Dancers. Please see the pre-requisites before purchasing tickets.

PRE-REQUISITES:
- All Level 1 Standard Basics including footwork and turns
- Soltinho | tilts | intro to head movement
- Aptitude of lead and follow movement for partnerwork

ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS:

IAGO AND VANESSA DYNAMIC CHALLENGE WORKSHOP

Workshops 1: Iago and Vanessa 2:00 - 4:00 PM

In their workshops, Iago and Vanessa will challenge dancers to push their boundaries, urging them to explore the depths of their creativity technique, and movement including footwork and body movement. They will seamlessly blend traditional Zouk techniques with innovative concepts, offering a fresh perspective that keeps the dance alive and ever evolving!! With their guidance you will learn what makes their movement and partnership look fresh, connected, and seamless. Discover how you can unlock your own style through their teachings and embrace individuality, while staying true to the essence of Brazilian Zouk.

CREATIVE CONVERSATIONS WORKSHOP

Workshops 2: Evelyn and Derrick 4:00 - 6:00 PM
Have you wondered how you could make your transitions and connections stronger all in frame, touch, flow, footwork and upper body movement and more. There is definitely a skill in layering flow and movement and it's a matter of listening deeper. Join Evelyn and Derrick in these 2 hours of workshops, which will allow creativity and flow from both the lead and follower, to express themselves in a non verbal and respectful way. This way you can maximize the fun in the dance together. They have been working to bring this to NYC ZOUK FESTIVAL 2023 in a unique and challenging way. So Let's Listen!! In this class the followers will be allowed to have a voice in the dance so we enhance the creativity with the ongoing connection.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

IAGO AND VANESSA

Iago Hassuike and Vanessa Meirelles are professional dancers from São Paulo - Brazil. They have been specialists in Brazilian Zouk and Lambada since 2018.

They received many awards in their career like: World Lambada Championship, National Brazilian Zouk Championship and others.

Their masters were: Ariel & Letícia, Philip Miha, David & Deywylla, Rafael Machado, Daniel Darbello.

They are one of the couples from the group "Geração São Paulo" and teach regular classes, study groups, workshops and in congresses all around the world. They have received many awards from championships in their specialities and in academic dances.

Iago with an experience in pedagogy since 2016 and Vanessa with more then 15 years of experience in dance styles like Jazz, ballet and contemporary. Together they make a united couple and they complete eachother in a special way!

With a dance based on a mix of Lambada and Brazilian Zouk and made by happiness and complicity, their dream is to share their love and passion for this art with everyone around the world!

EVELYN AND DERRICK
We are so excited to have Evelyn and Derrick here at NYC ZOUK FESTIVAL for the very first time. Together they are encouraging and inspiring students to be open-minded with the dance,
to explore your natural flow thinking outside the box, and to love the creation the body allows to give in the moment, accomplishing the Brazilian ‘Neo’ Zouk in fine detail.

Evelyn is one of the most sought-after Brazilian Zouk artist, dance instructor, and choreographer in the world and Derrick, with his in-depth skills of awareness body movement, agility, and more embody a beauty of FLOW.

According to Evelyn, dancing Zouk is, "Surrendering in the moment with a balanced mental and physical state, combining creativity through inner-beauty, while existing in harmony with the music”.

Evelyn embodies a unique approach to dance - an art of moving, expressing and interpreting the music internally, and from your heart.
